METEORA. SPORT CLIMBING GUIDE

This is a comprehensive guidebook covering the sport climbing found at Meteora and the surrounding area. In total it covers more than 590 routes, across a wide range of grades, of which around a third of these are at Meteora. The vast majority of these sport routes are single pitch, though it does cover some multi-pitch sport routes at Meteora.

The guidebook is split into 6 areas:

Meteora – 27 sectors of sport climbing on conglomerate rock
Theopetra – 12 sectors of sport climbing on limestone rock
Sarakina – 4 sectors of sport climbing on conglomerate rock
Agia Paraskevi – 1 sector of sport climbing on limestone rock
Pyli - 4 sectors of sport climbing on limestone rock
Mouzaki - 6 sectors of sport climbing on limestone rock
All the 590+ routes are shown on colour photo topos along with a short description. Each route is given both UIAA and French grades. For each sector there is approach information and the location map at the start of the guidebook has the GPS co-ordinates for the parking areas of all the sectors.

Published in 2025 (revised 2nd edition) this guidebook is in Greek and English text throughout. Please note there are many trad and mixed routes at Meteora, but this guidebook only covers the sport routes. Published by local climbers, part of the profit of this guidebook goes back into the maintenance of these existing routes. The guidebook is in full colour throughout and includes a great selection of action photographs plus loads of useful information for the visiting climber.
